Titles In This Set: 1. Kingdom of Ash 2. Tower of Dawn 3. Empire of Storms 4. Queen of Shadows 5. Heir of Fire 6. Crown of Midnight 7. Throne of Glass 8. The Assassin's Blade Description: Kingdom of Ash Aelin Galathynius's journey from slave to assassin to queen reaches its heart-rending finale as war erupts across her world . She has risked everything to save her people - but at a tremendous cost. Locked in an iron coffin by the Queen of the Fae, Aelin must draw upon her fiery will to endure the months of torture inflicted upon her. The knowledge that yielding to Maeve will doom those she loves keeps her from breaking, but her resolve is unravelling with each passing day. With Aelin imprisoned, Aedion and Lysandra are the last line of defence keeping Terrasen from utter destruction. But even the many allies they've gathered to battle Erawan's hordes might not be enough to save the kingdom. Scattered throughout the continent and racing against time, Chaol, Manon, and Dorian must forge their own paths to meet their destinies. And across the sea Rowan hunts to find his captured wife and queen - before she is lost to him. Some bonds will deepen and others be severed forever, but as the threads of fate weave together at last, all must fight if they are to find salvation - and a better world. Tower of Dawn Chaol Westfall has always defined himself by his unwavering loyalty, his strength, and his position as the Captain of the Guard. But all of that has changed since Aelin shattered the glass castle, since Chaol's men were slaughtered, since the King of Adarlan spared him from a killing blow, but left his body broken. Now he and Nesryn sail for Antica - the stronghold of the southern continent's mighty empire and of the legendary healers of the Torre Cesme. It's Chaol's one shot at recovery, and with war looming back home, Dorian and Aelin's survival could depend on Chaol and Nesryn convincing Antica's rulers to ally with them. But what they discover there will change them both - and be more vital to saving Erilea than they could have imagined. Empire of Storms The long path to the throne has just begun for Aelin Galathynius. As the kingdoms of Erilea fracture around her, enemies must become allies if Aelin is to keep those she loves from falling to the dark forces poised to claim her world. With war looming on all horizons, the only chance for salvation lies in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear. Will Aelin succeed in keeping her world from splintering, or will it all come crashing down? Queen of Shadows Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. Now she returns to the empire - to confront the shadows of her past ... Bloodthirsty for revenge on the two men responsible for destroying her life, and desperate to find out if the prince and his captain are safe, Celaena returns to Rifthold. She has accepted her identity as Aelin Galathynius, the lost Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her...

Same as Ever & The Psychology Of Money by Morgan Housel 2 Books Collection Set - Non Fiction - Paperback Pan Macmillan

Same as Ever & The Psychology Of Money by Morgan Housel 2 Books Collection Set - Non Fiction - Paperback Pan Macmillan

Titles in this set: 1. Same as Ever 2. The Psychology of Money Description: Same as Ever When planning for the future we often ask, “What will the economy be doing this time next year?” Or, “What will be different ten years from now?” But forecasting is hard. The important events that will shape the future are inherently unpredictable. Instead, we should be asking a different question: What will be the same ten years from now? What will be the same one hundred years from now? Knowledge of the things that never change is more useful, and more important, than an uncertain prediction of an unknowable future. In Same As Ever, bestselling author Morgan Housel shares 24 short stories about the ways that life, behaviour, and business will always be the same. Armed with this knowledge of the unchanging, you will have a powerful new ability to think about risk, opportunity, and how to navigate the uncertainty of the future. The Psychology of Money Doing well with money isn't necessarily about what you know. It's about how you behave. And behavior is hard to teach, even to really smart people. Money investing, personal finance, and business decisions is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don't make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money and teaches you how to make better sense of one of life's most important topics.

Donovan Legacy Series by Nora Roberts 4 Books Collection Set - Fiction - Paperback Mills & Boon

Donovan Legacy Series by Nora Roberts 4 Books Collection Set - Fiction - Paperback Mills & Boon

Titles In This Set : 1. Charmed 2. Captivated 3. Entranced 4. Enchanted Description : Charmed Passion. Power. Suspense. It's time to fall under the spell of Nora Roberts. Anastasia Donovan knew that her gift marked her as different, special - perhaps even dangerous. She had spent years hiding herself from the world, terrified about the consequences of revealing what she really was. When Boone Sawyer came into her life, bent on finding out the truth about her, Anastasia had to protect herself and her magic at all costs. She would keep her secrets whatever it took. Then she was confronted with a terrifying threat to everything she had learned to love. With a child's future at stake, Anastasia could not deny her powers, even if it meant risking her own life. Captivated Nash Kirkland had made a fortune out of fear, writing blockbuster horror films. Needing to add colour to his latest script, he tracked down self-proclaimed witch Morgana Donovan and sceptically demanded the secrets of her imaginary craft. Nash was stunned to discover that he was equally mystified by and attracted to Morgana. He found her impossible to understand, but could not rationalise away her magic. Either he was being driven mad or Morgana was telling the truth about her powers. And the most important choice Nash would ever make depended on getting the answer right. Entranced A missing child. A desperate mother. A private investigator running out of time. Mel Sutherland didn't need the help of a fraudulent psychic to find the abducted baby - and she wasn't about to let a con-artist exploit a grieving mother's vulnerability. Then all the leads dried up. Reluctantly, Mel had to accept Sebastian Donovan's aid. She was cynical about his powers and suspicious of his motives. But as the clock ticked, Sebastian unfailingly knew how to follow the abductor's tracks and Mel had to make up her mind. Was Sebastian's gift real? Or was something far more sinister at work? Enchanted Rowan Murray needed the space to make an important choice, so she ran to a cabin on the wild coast of Oregon. But her new house was isolated, and Rowan was a woman alone. Hiking in the woods one day, Rowan's solitude was threatened by an encounter with a stranger. Liam Donovan was mysterious, temperamental, frightening - and Rowan's nearest neighbour. In a terrifying storm, with the power out in her tiny cabin, Rowan desperately needed help. When Liam arrived just in time, she had no choice but to accept his aid. Rowan would have to trust an enigmatic stranger with her whole future.

Ben Macintyre Collection (Double Cross, Agent Zigzag & Operation Mincemeat) 3 Books Set - Non Fiction - Paperback Simon & Schuster

Ben Macintyre Collection (Double Cross, Agent Zigzag & Operation Mincemeat) 3 Books Set - Non Fiction - Paperback Simon & Schuster

Titles in this set 1. Double Cross 2. Agent Zigzag 3. Operation Mincemeat Description: Double Cross D-Day, 6 June 1944, the turning point of the Second World War, was a victory of arms. But it was also a triumph for a different kind of operation: one of deceit . . . At the heart of the deception was the 'Double Cross System', a team of double agents whose bravery, treachery, greed and inspiration succeeded in convincing the Nazis that Calais and Norway, not Normandy, were the targets of the 150,000-strong Allied invasion force. Under the direction of an eccentric but brilliant intelligence officer in tartan trousers, working from a smoky lair in St James's, these spies would weave a web of deception so intricate that it ensnared Hitler's army and helped to carry thousands of troops across the Channel in safety. These double agents were, variously, brave, treacherous, fickle, greedy and inspired. They were not conventional warriors, but their masterpiece of deceit saved countless lives. Their codenames were Bronx, Brutus, Treasure, Tricycle and Garbo. And this is their story. Agent Zigzag One December night in 1942, a Nazi parachutist landed in a Cambridgeshire field. His mission: to sabotage the British war effort. His name was Eddie Chapman, but he would shortly become MI5's Agent Zigzag. Dashing and suave, courageous and unpredictable, Chapman was by turns a traitor, a hero, a villain and a man of conscience. But, as his spymasters and many lovers often wondered, who was the real Eddie Chapman? Ben Macintyre weaves together diaries, letters, photographs, memories and top-secret MI5 files to create an exhilarating account of Britain's most sensational double agent. Operation Mincemeat April, 1943: a sardine fisherman spots the corpse of a British soldier floating in the sea off the coast of Spain and sets off a train of events that would change the course of the Second World War. Operation Mincemeat was the most successful wartime deception ever attempted. It hoodwinked the Nazi espionage chiefs and saved thousands of lives by deploying a secret agent who was different from any spy before or since: he was dead. His mission: to convince the Germans that instead of attacking Sicily, the Allied armies planned to invade Greece. The brainchild of an eccentric RAF officer and a brilliant Jewish barrister, the great hoax involved an extraordinary cast of characters including a famous forensic pathologist, a gold-prospector, an inventor, a beautiful secret service secretary, a submarine captain, three novelists, an irascible admiral who loved fly-fishing, and a dead Welsh tramp. This is the true story of the most extraordinary deception ever planned by Churchill's spies: an outrageous lie that travelled from a Whitehall basement all the way to Hitler's desk.

Title In This Set: Lyra's Oxford Once Upon a Time in the North Serpentine Description: Lyra's Oxford (His Dark Materials) Two years after the conclusion of The Amber Spyglass, Lyra and her daemon Pantalaimon sit high on the roof of Jordan College, gazing down on the streets of Oxford. But their peace is shattered by a flock of enraged starlings, who seem intent on knocking another bird out of the sky – a bird that Lyra and Pan quickly realise is a witch’s daemon. The daemon carries worrying tidings of a terrible sickness spreading in the north, and claims that only Lyra can help him – but is he really friend, or foe? Once Upon a Time in the North (His Dark Materials) When Lyra is studying at Oxford University, she comes across the story of Lee Scoresby and Iorek Byrnisson's first meeting, many years ago, along with much evidence of the adventure that brought them together. She discovers that when a young Texan balloonist Lee came down to earth in the harbour of an Arctic town in the North, little did he realise that he is about to be caught in a war between the residents of the town and the huge arctic bears that also live there. And when Lee meets one of these bears - Iorek - for the first time, they cement a friendship that will continue throughout their lives, as the tensions in the town threaten to erupt ... Serpentine Lyra and her daemon Pantalaimon have left the events of His Dark Materials far behind. Titles in This Set: 1. Prisoners of Geography 2. The Power of Geography Description: Prisoners of Geography All leaders are constrained by geography. Their choices are limited by mountains, rivers, seas and concrete. Yes, to follow world events you need to understand people, ideas and movements - but if you don't know geography, you'll never have the full picture. If you've ever wondered why Putin is so obsessed with Crimea, why the USA was destined to become a global superpower, or why China's power base continues to expand ever outwards, the answers are all here. The Power of Geography Tim Marshall's global bestseller Prisoners of Geography showed how every nation’s choices are limited by mountains, rivers, seas and concrete. Since then, the geography hasn’t changed. But the world has. A Darker Shade Of Magic Trilogy 3 Books Box Set By V. E. Schwab - Fiction - Paperback Titan Books Ltd

A Darker Shade of Magic is a trilogy of fantasy novels written by V.E. Schwab. The series takes place in multiple versions of London, each with its own unique history and magic. The three books in the series are A Darker Shade of Magic, A Gathering of Shadows, and A Conjuring of Light. The story follows Kell, a rare magician who is able to travel between these different worlds. Alongside him, readers meet Lila Bard, a fearless thief who becomes his unlikely ally. Together, they navigate the dangers of magic, power, and politics as they attempt to save their worlds from destruction. With richly drawn characters, complex world-building, and breathtaking action, the Darker Shade of Magic trilogy is a thrilling and imaginative adventure that will keep readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The series follows the adventures of Kell, one of the last remaining Antari, a rare type of magician who can travel between parallel universes. Kell serves as a messenger and occasional smuggler for the rulers of the different Londons. Each version of London is distinguished by the colour of its river: Grey London, without magic; Red London, where magic is abundant and revered; White London, where magic is scarce and wielded with brutality; and Black London, which has been sealed off from the rest of the worlds after succumbing to its own magic. In the first book, A Darker Shade of Magic, Kell travels between the different Londons and accidentally brings a dangerous artefact, a magical stone, into his home of Red London. He meets Lila Bard, a cunning thief from Grey London, who helps him navigate the politics and dangers of the magical world. Together, they must prevent the stone from falling into the wrong hands and causing chaos throughout the worlds. The second book, A Gathering of Shadows, takes place several months after the events of the first book. Kell and Lila find themselves caught up in a magical tournament, the Elemental Games, which pits magicians from different countries against each other. Meanwhile, a powerful and dangerous force threatens to tear apart the boundaries between the different Londons. The final book, A Conjuring of Light, brings the series to a thrilling and emotional conclusion. The characters must face their greatest challenge yet as they fight to save their worlds from destruction. Secrets are revealed, alliances are tested, and sacrifices are made as Kell and Lila work to protect the people they love and the worlds they call home. The Darker Shade of Magic series is a captivating and immersive fantasy series that has gained a large and dedicated fan base. The world-building is rich and intricate, with each London feeling distinct and fully realized. Schwab's writing is evocative and lyrical, with a strong sense of atmosphere that draws the reader in. Knockemout Series by Lucy Score 2 Books Collection Set - Fiction - Paperback Hodder

Titles In The Set: 1. Things We Never Got Over 2. Things We Hide From The Light Description: Things We Never Got Over Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon. Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride. Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way…with fists and beer. Usually in that order. Too bad for Naomi her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home with an 11-year-old going on thirty to take care of. There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life. At least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger. Things We Hide From The Light Police Chief Nash Morgan is known for two things: being a good guy and the way his uniform accentuates his rear end. But two bullets put a dent in his Southern charm and now he's facing a criminal still on the loose and a town full of citizens that consider the law more of a 'guideline'. The last thing he needs is the leggy, smart-mouthed Lina Solavita moving in next door, making him feel things he doesn't have the energy to feel. Lina is on a mission. As soon as she gets what she's after, she has no intention of sticking around. The town of Knockemout has other ideas. Soon she finds herself sucked into small-town life. Dog-sitting. Saying yes to a bridesmaid's dress. Listening to the sexy chief of police in the shower. But when Nash discovers Lina's secret these friends become furious enemies - though the sparks flying between them don't know the difference between love and hate.

At the age of four, Bryn watched a rabid werewolf brutally murder her parents. Alone in the world, she was rescued and taken in by Callum, the alpha of his pack. Now, Bryn is a human among werewolves, adhering to their strict social hierarchy. Little fazes her. But the pack's been keeping a secret, and when Bryn goes exploring against Callum's orders, she finds Chase, a newly turned teen werewolf locked in a cage. Terrifying memories of the attack on her parents come flooding back. Bryn needs answers, and only Chase can help. Suddenly, all allegiances to the pack no longer matter. It's Bryn and Chase against the world, whatever the consequences. With an electrifying link between a tough heroine and a dangerous werewolf at its heart, Raised by Wolves will leave you howling for more. Trial by Fire Bryn has the usual worries: a new boyfriend, a new school and a new home. But she has one major concern that her friends don't have: she is an alpha - a human girl in charge of her own werewolf pack. When Bryn and her closest friends, Dev and Lake, broke from the werewolf Callum's pack, it had felt right. Together with Chase, Bryn's new love, they had rescued some newly made female werewolves from a dangerous master and established their own pack, with Bryn as leader. Yet Bryn has always resented the rules of this life - the constant bowing to authority and submission to the alpha. And she is determined to live differently, to be better leader. Then one night, a badly beaten werewolf shows up on her territory. He desperately needs help. But taking him in could violate the rules, and no one knows better than Bryn the costs of challenging them. Obedience is law in pack life, but is Bryn ready to break the rules again? Taken by Storm Bryn knows first-hand that being the alpha of a werewolf pack means making hard decisions, and that being human makes things a thousand times worse. She is prepared to give up her humanity, but the wolf who promised to change her is waiting - though for what, she doesn't know. Still human, she must take her place in the werewolf Senate, the shadowy democracy that rules the packs. Standing side by side with ancient werewolves is enough of a challenge, especially when they are called on to deal with a problem that involves memories she would rather forget . . . With bodies stacking up and pressure closing in from all sides, Bryn and her pack are forced to turn to old enemies and friends for help. Especially when it starts to look like this time, the monster might be one of their own.

Titles in this Set: 1. The Crimson Moth (Book 1) 2. The Rebel Witch (Book 2) (Hardback) Description: The Crimson Moth (Book 1) On the night Rune’s life changed forever, blood ran in the streets. Now, in the aftermath of a devastating revolution, witches have been diminished from powerful rulers to outcasts ruthlessly hunted due to their waning magic, and Rune must hide what she is. Spending her days pretending to be nothing more than a vapid young socialite, Rune spends her nights as the Crimson Moth, a witch vigilante who rescues her kind from being purged. When a rescue goes wrong, she decides to throw the witch hunters off her scent and gain the intel she desperately needs by courting the handsome Gideon Sharpe – a notorious and unforgiving witch hunter loyal to the revolution – who she can't help but find herself falling for. Gideon loathes the decadence and superficiality Rune represents, but when he learns the Crimson Moth has been using Rune’s merchant ships to smuggle renegade witches out of the republic, he inserts himself into her social circles by pretending to court her right back. He soon realizes that beneath her beauty and shallow façade, is someone fiercely intelligent and tender who feels like his perfect match. Except, what if she’s the very villain he’s been hunting? Kristen Ciccarelli’s The Crimson Moth is the thrilling start to a romantic fantasy duology where the only thing more treacherous than being a witch…is falling in love. And he will stop at nothing to find her. Rune Winters will meet her end. Even if it ends him too.

The Unmapped Chronicles by Abi Elphinstone 4 Books Collection Set - Ages 8+ - Paperback Simon & Schuster

Titles in This Set: 1. Rumblestar (Volume 1) (The Unmapped Chronicles) 2. Jungledrop (Volume 2) (The Unmapped Chronicles) 3. The Crackledawn Dragon (Volume 3) (The Unmapped Chronicles) 4. Everdark (The Unmapped Chronicles) Description: Rumblestar (Volume 1) (The Unmapped Chronicles) Adventures are unpredictable and often terribly badly behaved – a bit like pickled onions if you’ve ever tried to fork one on a plate – but they have a way of unlocking people and turning them upside down so that all the astonishing things fizzing around inside them start to tumble out… Eleven-year-old Casper Tock hates risks, is allergic to adventures and shudders at the thought of unpredictable events. So, it comes as a nasty shock to him when he accidentally stumbles into Rumblestar, an Unmapped Kingdom full of magical beasts. All Casper wants is to find a way home, but Rumblestar is in trouble. An evil harpy called Morg is sending her followers, the Midnights, into the kingdom to wreak havoc and pave the way for her to steal the Unmapped magic for herself. But Casper cannot turn a blind eye because the future of his own world, he discovers, is bound up with that of the Unmapped Kingdoms. And so, together with Utterly Thankless, a girl who hates rules and is allergic to behaving, and her miniature dragon, Arlo, Casper embarks upon an adventure full of cloud giants, storm ogres and drizzle hags. Can he, Utterly and Arlo, the unlikeliest of heroes, save the Unmapped Kingdoms and our world from the clutches of Morg and her Midnights? Jungledrop (Volume 2) (The Unmapped Chronicles) Nothing, and I mean nothing, is more powerful than a child in possession of a plan. Eleven-year-old twins, Fox and Fibber, have been rivals for as long as they can remember. Only one of them will inherit the family fortune and so a race is afoot to save the dwindling Petty-Squabble empire and win the love of their parents. But when the twins are whisked off to Jungledrop, a magical Unmapped Kingdom in charge of conjuring our world’s weather, things get wildly out of hand. An evil harpy called Morg is on the loose. And if she finds the long-lost Forever Fern before the twins, both Jungledrop and our world will crumble. Suddenly, Fox and Fibber find themselves on an incredible adventure in a glow-in-the-dark rainforest full of golden panthers, gobblequick trees and enchanted temples. But, with the fate of two worlds in their hands, will the twins be able to work together for once to defeat Morg and her dark magic? The Crackledawn Dragon (Volume 3) (The Unmapped Chronicles) Where the map ends, the adventure begins . . . 11-year-old Zebedee Bolt is on the run. Again. Only this time it’s not the police who find him. It’s an evil harpy called Morg. And when she hauls him into Crackledawn, an Unmapped kingdom that conjures sunlight for our world, Zeb discovers running away only gets you so far. When magic’s involved, you’ve got to pick a side. And though Zeb vowed he wouldn’t trust anyone ever...

Inspector Montalbano by Andrea Camilleri Books 11-18 Collection Set - Fiction - Paperback Picador

Inspector Montalbano by Andrea Camilleri Books 11-18 Collection Set - Fiction - Paperback Picador

The Wings of the Sphinx The Wings of the Sphinx is the eleventh book in the wickedly funny Inspector Montalbano series by Italian author, Andrea Camilleri. Things are not going well for Inspector Montalbano. His long-distance relationship with Livia is on the rocks, he feels himself getting even older and he's growing tired of the violence in his job. Then the dead body of a young woman is found in an illegal dump, with half her face missing. Her identity at first unknown; a tattoo of a sphinx moth on her left shoulder links her with three other girls bearing the same mark, all recent Russian immigrants to Italy. Victims of an underworld sex trade, these girls have been rescued from the Mafia night-club circuit by a Catholic charity organization. The problem is, the other girls can't help Montalbano with his enquiries. They are all missing. As his investigations progresses, it seems that not everyone wants Montalbano to discover what really lies behind the organization's charitable façade. And not only does Montalbano have a case to solve, he has a demanding stomach to feed, and he must save his foundering relationship with Livia . . . The Wings of the Sphinx is followed by the twelfth gripping mystery, The Track of Sand. The Track of Sand The Track of Sand is Andrea Camilleri's twelfth outing in the wryly humorous Inspector Montalbano series. Inspector Montalbano rises one morning to find the carcass of a horse on the beach in front of his seaside home. But no sooner do his men arrive, than the body has mysteriously vanished, leaving only a track in the sand. Before long Rachele, a beguiling equestrian champion, turns up at police headquarters to report her horse missing. The horse had been stabled at the grounds of a certain Saverio Lo Duca, one of the richest men in Sicily. Lo Duca has lost one of his own horses too. Montalbano, his curiosity piqued, investigates, but before long things take a more disturbing turn . . . But who has Montalbano upset within this strange, unfamiliar world of horse-racing? And what has the Mafia to do with it all? The Track of Sand is followed by the thirteenth novel in the series, The Potter's Field. A remarkable series. The Track of Sand is as funny and intriguing as the best of its predecessors' Independent The Potter's Field A major BBC4 television series. Winner of the CWA international Dagger Award 2012 From the Italian crime legend, Andrea Camilleri, comes The Potter's Field, a dark mystery featuring the inimitable Inspector Montalbano. While Vigàta is wracked by storms, Inspector Montalbano is called to attend the discovery of a dismembered body in a field of clay. Bearing all the marks of an execution style killing, it seems clear that this is, once again, the work of the notorious local mafia. But who is the victim? Why was the body divided into thirty pieces? And what is the significance of the Potter's Field Working to decipher these clues, Montalbano must also confront the strange and difficult...

Former detective Luca d’Andrea – now working for the mafia; his need to solve the mystery of the Axeman is every bit as urgent as that of the authorities. And Ida – a secretary at the Pinkerton Detective Agency. Obsessed with Sherlock Holmes and dreaming of a better life, she stumbles across a clue which lures her and her musician friend, Louis Armstrong, to the case – and into terrible danger . . . As Michael, Luca and Ida each draw closer to discovering the killer’s identity, the Axeman himself will issue a challenge to the people of New Orleans: play jazz or risk becoming the next victim. But it proves harder than expected to find a face that is known across the city, and Ida must elicit the help of her friend Louis Armstrong. And Dante Sanfelippo – rum-runner and fixer – is back in Chicago on the orders of Al Capone, who suspects there’s a traitor in the ranks and wants Dante to investigate. Meanwhile, Private Investigator Ida Young and her old partner, Michael Talbot, must prove the innocence of Talbot’s son Tom, who has been accused of the brutal murders of four people in a Harlem flophouse. With all the evidence pointing towards him, their only chance of exoneration is to find the killer themselves. Whilst across town, Ida’s childhood friend, Louis Armstrong, is on the brink of bankruptcy, when a promoter approaches him with a strange offer to reignite his career . . .

Last Seen Wearing Last Seen Wearing is the second novel in Colin Dexters Oxford-set detective series. Morse was beset by a nagging feeling. Service Of All The Dead Service of All the Dead is the fourth novel in Colin Dexters Oxford-set detective series. A heavy weight rests upon her shoulders. Her ward - and her brother - need her back in her homeland . . . but the changes that have strengthened Saeris have also made her weak. Stick to the shadows. And for the love of all seven Gods, do NOT crack any jokes.' Titles in this set: 1. Brooklyn (Paperback) 2. Long Island (Hardback) Description: Brooklyn (Paperback) A devastating story of love, loss and one woman's terrible choice between duty and personal freedom. It is Ireland in the early 1950s and for Eilis Lacey, as for so many young Irish girls, opportunities are scarce. So when her sister arranges for her to emigrate to New York, Eilis knows she must go, leaving behind her family and her home for the first time. Arriving in a crowded lodging house in Brooklyn, Eilis can only be reminded of what she has sacrificed. She is far from home - and homesick. And just as she takes tentative steps towards friendship, and perhaps something more, Eilis receives news which sends her back to Ireland. There she will be confronted by a terrible dilemma - a devastating choice between duty and one great love. Long Island (Hardback) Long Island is Colm Tóibín’s masterpiece: an exquisite, exhilarating novel that asks whether it is possible to truly return to the past and renew the great love that seemed gone forever. A man with an Irish accent knocks on Eilis Fiorello’s door on Long Island and in that moment everything changes. Eilis and Tony have built a secure, happy life here since leaving Brooklyn - perhaps a little stifled by the in-laws so close, but twenty years married and with two children looking towards a good future. And yet this stranger will reveal something that will make Eilis question the life she has created. For the first time in years she suddenly feels very far from home and the revelation will see her turn towards Ireland once again. Back to her mother. Back to the town and the people she had chosen to leave behind. Did she make the wrong choice marrying Tony all those years ago? Is it too late now to take a different path?

Diddly Squat Series By Jeremy Clarkson: 5 Books Collection Set - Fiction - Paperback/Hardback Penguin Random House

Diddly Squat Series By Jeremy Clarkson: 5 Books Collection Set - Fiction - Paperback/Hardback Penguin Random House

Titles in this Set: 1. Diddly Squat: A Year On The Farm 2. Diddly Squat: ‘Til The Cows Come Home 3. Diddly Squat: Pigs Might Fly 4. Diddly Squat: Home to Roost 5. Diddly Squat: The Farmer's Dog (Hardback) Description: Diddly Squat: A Year On The Farm Welcome to Clarkson's farm. It's always had a nice ring to it. Jeremy just never thought that one day his actual job would be 'a farmer'. And, sadly, it doesn't mean he's any good at it. From buying the wrong tractor (Lamborghini, since you ask . . .) to formation combine harvesting, getting tied-up in knots of red tape to chasing viciously athletic cows, our hero soon learns that enthusiasm alone might not be enough. Jeremy may never succeed in becoming master of his land, but, as he's discovering, the fun lies in the trying . . . Diddly Squat: ‘Til The Cows Come Home Enthusiastic trainee farmer Jeremy Clarkson made just £144 in his first year at Diddly Squat Farm. This year he's determined to do better. Not because he now knows what he's doing. But because he's fed up of getting stick from Kaleb. Yet farming continues to be a challenge. For instance . . . · Loading a grain trailer was more demanding than flying an Apache gunship? · Cows were more dangerous than motor-racing? · It's easier to get planning permission to build a nuclear plant than to turn a barn into a restaurant? Jeremy's always got a plan. Loads of them. Often cunning. Not always greeted with wild enthusiasm by Kaleb and Cheerful Charlie, however . . . Diddly Squat: Pigs Might Fly After three years, Jeremy Clarkson has discovered the golden rule of farming: whatever you hope will happen, won't. Enthusiastic schemes to diversify face defeat at the hands of the Council Planning department, or derision from Kaleb. Jeremy's plans for a business empire founded on rewilding and nettle soup are doubted by Lisa. And the stifling thickets of red tape keep only one person smiling – Cheerful Charlie, who charges by the hour. But the animals couldn’t be happier. A rented bull called Break-Heart Maestro is delighting the cows. The pigs are bringing home the bacon. And the goats are . . . most probably psychopaths. Yet on the good days it hard not to be optimistic. Where else do you get to harvest blackberries with a vacuum cleaner? Maybe it’s not just Break-heart Maestro who gets a happy ending? Diddly Squat: Home to Roost Welcome back to Clarkson’s Farm. The spring crop failed. Farming sheep, pigs and cows was hardly more lucrative (better off breeding ostriches…) But in the face of uncooperative weather, bureaucracy, and the world’s persistent refusal to recognise his genius, our hero’s not beaten yet. Not while the farm shop’s still doing a roaring trade in smelly candles, he isn’t. Misery loves company and in girlfriend Lisa, Farm Manager Kaleb, Cheerful Charlie and Gerald his Head of Security Jeremy’s got the best. And it’s hard to feel too gloomy with a JCB telehandler, a crop-spraying hovercraft and a digger in the barn. Diddly Squat: The...

Christopher Hitchens 4 Books Collection Set - Non Fiction - Paperback Atlantic Books

Christopher Hitchens 4 Books Collection Set - Non Fiction - Paperback Atlantic Books

Titles in this set: The Missionary Position Mortality God Is Not Great Hitch 22 Description: The Missionary Position In this frank and damning exposé of the Teresa cult, Hitchens details the nature and limits of one woman's mission to help the world's poor. He probes the source of the heroic status bestowed upon an Albanian nun whose only declared wish was to serve God. He asks whether Mother Teresa's good works answered any higher purpose than the need of the world's privileged to see someone, somewhere, doing something for the Third World. Mortality During the American book tour for his memoir, Hitch-22, Christopher Hitchens collapsed in his hotel room with excruciating pain in his chest. As he would later write in the first of a series of deeply moving Vanity Fair pieces, he was being deported 'from the country of the well across the stark frontier that marks off the land of malady.' Over the next year he experienced the full force of modern cancer treatment. God Is Not Great God Is Not Great is the ultimate case against religion. In a series of acute readings of the major religious texts, Christopher Hitchens demonstrates the ways in which religion is man-made, dangerously sexually repressive and distorts the very origins of the cosmos. Above all, Hitchens argues that the concept of an omniscient God has profoundly damaged humanity. Hitch 22 In this long-awaited and candid memoir, Hitchens re-traces the footsteps of his life to date, from his childhood in Portsmouth, with his adoring, tragic mother and reserved Naval officer father; to his life in Washington DC, the base from which from he would launch fierce attacks on tyranny of all kinds.

The Plant Paradox & Plant Paradox Quick and Easy: By Dr. Steven R Gundry, MD 2 Books Collection Set - Non Fiction - Hardback/Paperback HarperCollins Publishers

The Plant Paradox & Plant Paradox Quick and Easy: By Dr. Steven R Gundry, MD 2 Books Collection Set - Non Fiction - Hardback/Paperback HarperCollins Publishers

Titles in this set: 1. The Plant Paradox (Hardback) 2. The Plant Paradox Quick and Easy (Paperback) Description: The Plant Paradox (Hardback) From renowned cardiac surgeon Steven R. Gundry, MD The Plant Paradox is a revolutionary look at the hidden compounds in "healthy" foods like fruit, vegetables, and whole grains that are causing us to gain weight and develop chronic disease. Most of us have heard of gluten—a protein found in wheat that causes widespread inflammation in the body. Americans spend billions of dollars on gluten-free diets in an effort to protect their health. But what if we’ve been missing the root of the problem? In The Plant Paradox , renowned cardiologist Dr. Steven Gundry reveals that gluten is just one variety of a common, and highly toxic, plant-based protein called lectin. Lectins are found not only in grains like wheat but also in the “gluten-free” foods most of us commonly regard as healthy, including many fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, and conventional dairy products. These proteins, which are found in the seeds, grains, skins, rinds, and leaves of plants, are designed by nature to protect them from predators (including humans). Once ingested, they incite a kind of chemical warfare in our bodies, causing inflammatory reactions that can lead to weight gain and serious health conditions. At his waitlist-only clinics in California, Dr. Gundry has successfully treated tens of thousands of patients suffering from autoimmune disorders, diabetes, leaky gut syndrome, heart disease, and neurodegenerative diseases with a protocol that detoxes the cells, repairs the gut, and nourishes the body. Now, in The Plant Paradox , he shares this clinically proven program with readers around the world. The simple (and daunting) fact is, lectins are everywhere. Thankfully, Dr. Gundry offers simple hacks we easily can employ to avoid them, including: Peel your veggies. Most of the lectins are contained in the skin and seeds of plants; simply peeling and de-seeding vegetables (like tomatoes and peppers) reduces their lectin content. Shop for fruit in season. Fruit contain fewer lectins when ripe, so eating apples, berries, and other lectin-containing fruits at the peak of ripeness helps minimize your lectin consumption. Swap your brown rice for white. Whole grains and seeds with hard outer coatings are designed by nature to cause digestive distress—and are full of lectins. With a full list of lectin-containing foods and simple substitutes for each, a step-by-step detox and eating plan, and delicious lectin-free recipes, The Plant Paradox illuminates the hidden dangers lurking in your salad bowl—and shows you how to eat whole foods in a whole new way. The Plant Paradox Quick and Easy (Paperback) The 30-Day Plan to Lose Weight, Feel Great, and Live Lectin-Free. In Dr. Steven Gundry’s breakout bestseller The Plant Paradox, readers learned the surprising truth about foods that have long been regarded as healthy. Lectins—a type of protein found...

You Series By Caroline Kepnes 4 Books Collection Set - Fiction - Paperback Simon & Schuster

You Series By Caroline Kepnes 4 Books Collection Set - Fiction - Paperback Simon & Schuster

Caroline Kepnes' You book series has become a cultural phenomenon, captivating readers with its thrilling and twisted storyline. The series is comprised of four books: YOU, Hidden Bodies, Providence, and You Love Me. The books follow the life of Joe Goldberg, a charming and intelligent man who is also a stalker and murderer. The first book in the series, YOU, introduces readers to Joe Goldberg, a bookstore manager who becomes infatuated with a young woman named Guinevere Beck. Through his narration, readers gain insight into Joe's twisted thought process as he stalks and manipulates Beck into falling in love with him. As their relationship develops, Joe's actions become increasingly violent and unpredictable. In Hidden Bodies, the second book in the series, Joe flees to Los Angeles after the events of the first book. There, he becomes embroiled in a new obsession with a woman named Love Quinn. As Joe becomes more entangled in Love's life, he realises that his past is catching up with him and he must make a drastic decision to protect himself. Providence, the third book in the series, takes a departure from Joe's story and instead focuses on a new character named Jon. Jon is a young man who discovers that he has supernatural powers after a near-death experience. However, he quickly realises that his powers come at a price and he must navigate a dangerous world filled with dangerous people. The fourth and most recent addition to the series, You Love Me, follows Joe as he moves to a small island community and attempts to start a new life. However, his obsession with a local librarian named Mary Kay takes a dangerous turn as he becomes embroiled in the town's dark secrets. Kepnes' writing has been praised for its ability to create a complex and multi-dimensional character like Joe Goldberg. Despite his reprehensible actions, Joe's narration creates a sense of empathy for him, making readers feel almost complicit in his crimes. Kepnes' prose is also filled with dark humour and witty observations that keep the reader engaged throughout the series. In addition to the books, the You book series has also been adapted into a successful Netflix series starring Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg. The series has garnered critical acclaim for its faithful adaptation of the source material and its ability to create a tense and suspenseful atmosphere. Fans of the You series have praised Kepnes for her ability to create a thrilling and unpredictable storyline that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The series is not for the faint of heart, with its graphic violence and disturbing subject matter, but for those willing to delve into the dark world of Joe Goldberg, it is a captivating and unforgettable journey. Overall, the You book series by Caroline Kepnes is a masterful example of the psychological thriller genre. Its complex characters, dark humour, and gripping plot make it a must-read for fans of the genre, and its success in both book and television form...

Queer by William S. Burroughs Collection 3 Book Set - Fiction - Paperback Penguin Random House

Queer by William S. Burroughs Collection 3 Book Set - Fiction - Paperback Penguin Random House

Titles in this set: 1. Naked Lunch 2. Queer: 25th Anniversary Edition 3. Junky Description: Naked Lunch Nightmarish and fiercely funny, William Burroughs' virtuoso, taboo-breaking masterpiece Naked Lunch follows Bill Lee through Interzone: a surreal, orgiastic wasteland of drugs, depravity, political plots, paranoia, sadistic medical experiments and endless, gnawing addiction. One of the most shocking novels ever written, Naked Lunch is a cultural landmark, now in a restored edition incorporating Burroughs' notes on the text, alternate drafts and outtakes from the original. Queer: 25th Anniversary Edition Originally written in 1952 but not published till 1985, Queer is an enigma - both an unflinching autobiographical self-portrait and a coruscatingly political novel, Burroughs' only realist love story and a montage of comic-grotesque fantasies that paved the way for his masterpiece, Naked Lunch. Set in Mexico City during the early fifties, Queer follows William Lee's hopeless pursuit of desire from bar to bar in the American expatriate scene. As Lee breaks down, the trademark Burroughsian voice emerges; a maniacal mix of self-lacerating humor and the Ugly American at his ugliest. A haunting tale of possession and exorcism, Queer is also a novel with a history of secrets, as this new edition reveals. Junky A shocking exposé of the desperate subculture surrounding heroin addiction Burroughs' first novel, a largely autobiographical account of the constant cycle of drug dependency, cures and relapses, remains the most unflinching, unsentimental account of addiction ever written. Through junk neighbourhoods in New York, New Orleans and Mexico City, through time spent kicking, time spent dealing and time rolling drunks for money, through junk sickness and a sanatorium, Junky is a field report (by a writer trained in anthropology at Harvard) from the American post-war drug underground. Nurtured into being by fellow Beat Generation guru Allen Ginsberg, Junky is a cult classic that has influenced generations of writers with its raw, sparse and unapologetic tone. This definitive edition painstakingly recreates the author's original text word for word. In work and in life, William S. Burroughs (1914-1997) expressed a constant subversion of the morality, politics and economics of modern America. To escape those conditions, and in particular his treatment as a homosexual and a drug-user, Burroughs left his homeland in 1950, and soon after began writing. By the time of his death he was widely recognised as one of the most politically trenchant, culturally influential, and innovative artists of the twentieth century. His numerous books include Naked Lunch, Junky, Queer, Nova Express, Interzone, The Wild Boys, The Ticket That Exploded and The Soft Machine.
